It has been a long journey! As much as I love South Africa I have to say it is oh so wonderful to be home. So I am trying to figure out how to SUMMARIZE the last few weeks that we weren’t able to update… summarizing really isn’t my style but if I don’t spare you at least a couple details you would probably be sitting at your computer for days! I’m pretty sure the last I updated we were just about to begin our traveling so….
We made our way to Jefferies Bay for the Mercy Alliance summit. We really had no idea what this was or what our part in it was. When we arrived we discovered that everyone else was in the same boat. And I can’t even precisely explain it to you now but basically this was the first gathering of multiple ministries and people who are partnered together through a few common factors- 1) a passion for Jesus Christ 2) a passion for Africa and 3) most were connected and brought together by a very amazing man of God named Rufus Luttig who runs a ministry called HuntSA. So ministries such as Westside Family Church, Oceans of Mercy (Daniel and Kristi,) JAM, CPX, LRX, HuntSA, and many more sat down for 3 days to discuss how they can further the Kingdom of God and continue to build up Africa and African leaders individually as well as as a team, a church. They discussed dreams, goals, where the need is, how they can be a resource to that need, and brainstormed a plan to work together and make it all happen. To be honest… it was incredibly boring :/ Kyle and I jipped out after about 2 sessions to join the team that came over from Westside to do some touristy stuff! But those 2 sessions didn’t mean nothing to me. They were very encouraging, motivating, and eye opening. It was so enlightening to hear the dreams some of these people had and the passions and drive they had to make it happen. These people are not just sitting back; the dream-reel that runs through their minds and hearts is not the end of it. The thing is, though they cannot make this dream a reality on their own. They have humbled themselves in knowing this. They have humbled themselves in realizing that Africa is quite a large continent (if you didn’t know ;}) and that their one self is not going to be able to introduce and enable thorough change. They have given control to God and followed his direction in unting with the Church- that is not the building you worship and hear a sermon in but the whole body of Jesus followers, that is Daniel and Kristi and Schaun and Rufus and Roy and Why and Jessi and Kyle all working together to make disciples for Jesus!
I know that isn’t much but I can’t seem to find the patience to sit and type everything so I’ll give you that for now and tell you about some more next time I can get myself to sit down! Hopefully I will get pictures put up on flickr soon as well… sorry you will just have to be patient with me!
Love ya’ll. Thanks again for all of the prayers while we were gone.
